Talk Program on 'Promoting and Protecting Child Rights: Challenges and Possibilities'
Talk Program on 'Promoting and Protecting Child Rights: Challenges and Possibilities' United Nations Association Nepal (UNAN) organized a talk program on "Promoting and Protecting Child Rights: challenges and Possibilities" on 2nd May, 20118 at Nandi Secondary School, Naxal, Kathmandu.

Former Ambassador Dr. Bishnu Hari Nepal was the Chief Guest of the talk program. The program was chaired by Asso.Prof. Dambar Bir Thapa, President of UNA of Nepal.


Former Ambassador of Nepal to Japan Dr. Bishnu Hari Nepal, chief guest of the program inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. He addressed the function as Chief Guest. He encouraged the children that they should start to act for the child rights of food, cloths, shelter, education etc. from within themselves overcoming the humiliation sometimes created by poverty. The child trafficking, child abuse, slavery and bondage labor are crimes against humanity. We must work hard to defeat them. I appreciate the efforts carried out by United Nations through UNESCO SDG 2030 and UNICEF. He encouraged the children and said that you can be above Einstein or else if you work very hard for your rights through self confidence.



Mrs. Geeta Kafle, Principal of Nandi Secondary school, welcoming the guests, said that school teachers have special role to play in promoting and protecting child rights and empowering them for their rights.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Kedar Nath Dahal, Vice-President of National Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centres and Association of Nepal said that we have to protect and promote the rights of children for the bright future of children.

Mr. Bhola Prasad Thapaliya, former National Coordinator of UNESCO ASPnet said that we should empower children for national interest of the country the rights.

Two students namely Sajan Kari and Sajana Ghorasaini also spoke on the theme of the program.


From the Chair Asso. Prof. Mr. Dambar Bir Thapa said that United Nations Association of Nepal has been organizing activities contributory to promoting and protecting the rights of children in Nepal. He also thanked the guests and participants of the program. Many teachers, students and NGO activists were present on the occasion.
