UNA Nepal Bio Char Project 2013

UNA Nepal has been currently undergoing the Bio Char Project with the collaboration with various international donor bodies. The current area of focus has been the hilly district of Parbat followed by the Terai plain district of Nawalparasi. Currently our staffs have been deployed in the field for enlightening local people about the importance of Bio Char Project and its positive and environment friendly impact to the community. Bio Char implementation would result in reduction of carbon emmission and it also aids in fostering productivity of soil for cultivation and agriculture.

Our visit to Parbat and Nawalparasi resulted with the fruitful outcome. It provided us with an opportunity to form collaboration with more than ten Community Forest User Groups (CFUGs) in both the districts. We are also hopeful to extend the impact of BioChar in other part of the country. We want to set ourself as a pioneer to BioChar Plantation in Nepal and also aid to uplift the positive outcome of Biochar in the world. We are expanding to other districts and are also open for the partnership with other organizations who are interested to invest in Biochar Plantation in Nepal.

The response of the community has been enormously on the positive tone. The concept of Bio Char Project is expected to yield in the producitivty of a soil and curtail the carbondioxide from the local atmosphere, hence making air more breathworthy.
